The trivago Awards 2017 celebrate the best properties in Canada

The wait is over. The world’s largest hotel search engine,, is pleased to announce the best properties in Canada — based entirely on guest reviews. Chosen for their outstanding service, reputation for excellence, and performance, the 2nd annual trivago Awards recognize the 10 best-rated properties in Canada in four different categories; 5-Star, 4-Star, 3-Star, and Alternative Accommodation.

How did trivago choose these properties? We didn’t.

With user ratings gathered from 34 hotel, booking, and review sites across the web, we’ve created the trivago Rating Index (tRI)*, a comprehensive, transparent and unbiased index for hotel ratings. A perfect tRI score is 100%, and is simply a compilation of all reviews and ratings of each property. Only the highest-rated hotels with prices on and at least 150 tRI ratings and reviews made the lists.

Johannes Thomas, Managing Director at trivago said: “We aggregate and analyze more than 175 million hotel reviews from websites all over the world. This gives us strong insights into what hotels are particularly good at.” He added: “Our trivago awards recognize those hoteliers who deliver an exceptional experience to their guests, and we are proud and delighted to award those achievements.”

With 12 trivago Award Winners located in Québec, hotels in La Belle Province are especially favoured by their guests. On a local level, Québec City tied with Vancouver and Montréal for the most awarded properties in their respective cities.

*About trivago Rating Index

With over 175 million user ratings gathered from 34 hotel, booking, and review sites across the web, we’ve crafted a comprehensive, transparent, unbiased index for hotel ratings that we call the tRI. A perfect tRI score is 100%, and is simply a compilation of all reviews and rating for each property. tRI fluctuates as new reviews are added to trivago. The 2017 trivago Awards are based on tRI as of September 1,2016. The hotel with the highest score, as defined by hotel guests in their ratings and reviews, are placed accordingly within their respective accommodation category. We only looked at hotels with prices on and over 150 tRI ratings for the trivago Awards 2017. For more detailed information, go to
