According to hotel search, New York City and Las Vegas continue to be Canadians’ favorite destinations to enjoy the long weekend. For those staying in the country, Toronto is the most popular choice.

April 2014. As Canadians finalize travel plans for Easter, hotel search trivago reports the top 10 destinations where Canadians are heading to for the holiday. While New York City and Las Vegas keep their the top two spots they held in 2013, Toronto now surpasses Montreal and becomes the third most popular destination during the period April 17 – 21. Nonetheless, twice as many people are looking for a stay in Las Vegas than in Toronto, while New York is searched for over threetimes more than Toronto. In 2013, the same 5 cities made up the list of most popular Easter destinations for Canadians.

The cost of a getaway during the Easter holidays? Canadians who plan to travel this weekend plan to spend an average $169/night for a hotel room. Travelers can expect to pay top dollar in American cities, New York ($413) and Miami Beach ($374), followed by European cities London ($292/night) and Paris ($274/night). Looking to go abroad without breaking the bank? Travelers might consider Las Vegas, where the average per-night rate over the weekend is $130/night. Here is the list of the most popular destinations among Canadians and corresponding nightly rates.


Canadian Easter Destinations: Deals in Niagara Falls, Victoria, and Quebec City

As shown in the graph below (reporting average prices of accommodation for a stay in the most popular Canadian cities during the Easter holidays), Niagara Falls is by far the most affordable spot to spend the long weekend. For an average of $106, visitors can enjoy the romance of the city and its famous waterfalls. Victoria and Quebec City follow with average rates of $132/night and $139/night. The most expensive Canadian Easter destination on the list is Whistler, where visitors will pay an average $218/night—over twice as much as they would pay in Niagara Falls.
